PHOTOGRAPHY TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT HIGHLIGHTS

Rotating Camera

The N1, released in 2013, had a camera which could rotate 206 degrees. This was an incredibly complex design, arrived at through a painstaking process, which began with the intricate planning and design of 67 components and 50 connecting wires and culminated in over 100 thousand fault-free tests. We think the final result speaks for itself: a camera which brought some much-needed innovation back to smartphone photography, and gave users a whole new perspective on taking photos. When the N3 model was released in 2014, the camera was upgraded to a motorized rotating camera.
Pure Image Engine
Pure Image technology was first released in 2014 with the OPPO N1. A major update came with Pure Image 2.0, included with the Find 7 in 2014. With Pure Image 2.0, the Find 7 phone could automatically optimize the color scheme according to the photography environment. Combined with the Find 7's other technological innovations, this made taking high-quality photos a truly simple matter: Ultra HD let the camera focus in on the details with no loss of quality, while perfect exposure was achieved by taking multiple exposures and combining them into a single HD photo.
Dual PDAF Focusing Technology
The R9 series, released in 2016, introduced OPPO's IMX398 image sensor. Co-developed with Sony, the IMX398 was an image sensor redesigned from the ground up, adopting Dual PDAF (phase detection autofocus) technology to double the size of each focusing pixel. This improved focus speed by 40 percent, greatly reducing the chances of taking blurry photos.
5x Lossless Zoom Technology
We announced the 5x lossless zoom technology at MWC 2017. This technology combines a periscope-like zoom mechanism, a dual camera, and high-precision image processing technology. This breakthrough meant advanced zoom technology could be easily included in lightweight handheld devices.
Ultra Night Mode
In 2018 the R17 Pro was launched with Ultra Night Mode. This mode combines F1.5/F2.4 with OIS to take low-light conditions and transform them into well-lit night scenes. OPPO's AI Ultra-clear Engine can make night shots more clear, and colors more mesmerizing, with just the touch of a button.

10x Lossless Zoom

Technology
In 2019, we announced the 10x lossless zoom. 10x lossless zoom uses a wide-angle lens, ultra-clear main camera, and telephoto lens combo to bring you the benefits of both a telephoto lens and wide-angle lens. The ultra-clear main camera and telephoto lens are both equipped with OIS, making it easy to beat blur and take clearer pictures than ever before.
